About Dr. Morrisroe
Dr. Shelby Morrisroe graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA studying human physiology. She then went on to receive her medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
Dr. Morrisroe completed her urologic surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Center in Pennsylvania and a two year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA, training under the world renowned pelvic floor surgeon, Dr. Shlomo Raz.
As the only female urologist in the South Bay, Dr. Morrisroe actually bridges the gap between gynecologic and urologic medicine. The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship is recognized by both the American Board of Urology and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and she is the only doctor in the South Bay who has completed this fellowship. She offers patients training and experience in a myriad of evaluative and management techniques for pelvic pathology. She also treats patients with prior failed reconstructions, including complications resulting from the use of transvaginal mesh. From the simplest urinary tract infection to complex fistula disease to pelvic organ prolapse, Dr. Morrisroe is trained to diagnose and treat any and all female urologic issues.
Dr. Morrisroe is originally from Sacramento, California but is happy to call the South Bay her home. She is particularly passionate about treating pelvic floor health issues in women with a history of breast or other gynecologic cancers. She is a 5 year breast cancer survivor herself and understands first hand the toll, both physical and emotional, that these diagnoses and treatments can take on a woman. The MonaLisa Touch laser treatment was actually initially developed for women with a history of breast cancer suffering from vaginal atrophy symptoms, including painful intercourse. Since proving to be so effective, this laser has now become a mainstay of treatment for any woman suffering from these symptoms, even without a cancer history. Being such an advocate of improving both functional and sexual health issues in this patient population, Dr. Morrisroe is happy to share her personal story with her patients.Schedule
